SCHOOL MESSENGER

  • Emergency Alerts and Notifications

•A recorded message to the primary telephone number on record for a student

•An e-mail IF selected by parent or guardian

•A text message IF the cell phone's owner has previously opted in to receive those messages (see separate instructions below)

Parents are busy people. They need to get information on what is happening and how it impacts their students delivered in a timely manner, especially if there is an emergency. Eagle Point School District 9 (EPSD9) ensures that parents are in the know for routine events as well as emergencies such as bad weather closings or delay notifications.

To ensure that all families know when school has been canceled or delayed, EPSD9 will place a call to all parents via SchoolMessenger around 6 a.m. The information will also be available on the District's website, the district’s Facebook page, and area television stations. The calls are made early in order to provide enough time to get to school. Additionally, parents can opt in to a text or email message.

SchoolMessenger is the district's main tool for immediate outreach. This communications system allows the district to send mass telephone, e-mail and text messages to all our parents and guardians. The district has developed some protocols around how and when this tool is used.

In the case of a School Closing or Delay, the district will use School Messenger to send a message in all of these ways:
    1. A recorded message to the primary telephone number on record for a student
    2. An e-mail IF selected by parent or guardian
    3. A text message IF the cell phone's owner has previously opted in to receive those messages (see separate instructions below)

    Who Gets the Message?
The online registration that parents/guardians complete each year populates the district's student information system. New information from that system is downloaded into the SchoolMessenger's secure and confidential portal. Within 24-hours of being entered (or updated), a family may begin receiving communications.  Therefore, it is critical that the information provided during registration is correct AND if a phone number or email is changed, the correct school office receives the updated information.
